Two days ago iRamadah reported (Google Translation) that FaceTime in the Middle East was working fine using an iPod Touch 4th gen. It turns out that the units they used carried MC544FD, MC540FD and MC547FD model numbers, which are the ones Apple sell in Switzerland, SaudiMac reports. Read more

HyperMac Ceasing Sale Of MacBook Charging Cables
Starting November 2nd at 00:00 PT, HyperMac won’t be selling charging cables for MacBooks anymore. HyperMac’s external batteries will still be sold, but you won’t be able to charge your MacBook without the cable. The reason behind all this? “Comprehensive licensing negotiations with Apple” is what HyperMac claims, though it’s pretty clear that Apple’s recent lawsuit over Sanho’s use of the MagSafe connector played an important role.
Here’s your last chance to get a full HyperMac external battery set before November 2nd, stock is limited. As Engadget reports, there’s still hope for a legal solution - but if I were you I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Reminder: Apple Q4 Financial Results Today - 5 PM ET
Later today starting at 5:00 PM ET (2:00 PM PT) Apple will hold the Q4 earnings call during which the company will announce their financial results. An audio-only live streaming will be available at apple.com/quicktime/qtv/earningsq410. As usual, we’ll offer a breakdown of the results and have a post in the homepage with continually updating notes from the earnings call.
Apple is expected to post blockbuster sales in this quarter, even after all the Antennagate issues this summer. Analysts have predicted roughly 6 million iPads sold during Q4 2010, 13 million iPhones and 4 million Macs. We’ll know the whole truth in 10 hours.
Apple is set to offer a preview of the next Mac operating system (allegedly called “Lion”) on Wednesday and Apple’s stock is currently trending at $314.
FaceTime Does Work In The Middle East, With The iPod Touch
The “FaceTime in the Middle East” saga is undergoing another major development today: according to website iRamadah (Google Translation, via 9to5) Apple’s video calling system is working perfectly fine, only with an iPod Touch 4th generation. We have previously reported about the weird removal of all FaceTime images and mentions from Apple’s eastern websites, then Apple itself posted a supported document regarding the absence of FaceTime in certain Middle East countries due to problems with the carriers. iPad in AT&T and Verizon Stores October 28th
Now that the iPad is being sold at Amazon, Target, Walmart and Sam’s Club, Verizon and AT&T are two more (and big ones at that!) to add to the list of the all-time fastest selling gadget. It makes sense that AT&T is going to sell the iPad in its retail stores since they already carry the iPhone line; Verizon could be making room in their showroom for the iPad because rumors are saying that a Verizon iPhone may be here very soon.
Guess What, Apple’s “Back to the Mac” Event Is A Non-Event
What’s up, Gene Munster? You’ve always been a nice Apple-focused analyst. First you praise the iPad but you state Android tablets will eventually kill it and win the platform war; now you come out and say that next Wednesday’s event is, actually, a “non-event” for investors.
Munster tells us he expects some “speed bump” updates to the Mac line, a preview of the next OS, and maybe a new Macbook Air, but that’s about it.
“From an investor’s perspective, this is a non-event,” says Munster.
Basically, Munster argues that the company is now focused on iOS and the Mac doesn’t mean much anymore. He’s wrong: for as much as the Mac’s numbers might not be as jaw-dropping as iOS’ ones, investors should keep their Macs close. Where do iOS apps come from, again?
Update: Apple’s share of computer sales in the US surpassed 10 percent.
