Daylite Touch Goes 1.5: Reminders, Retina Display Graphics, New Features

Daylite Touch, the app that allows you to professionally manage your team and business, has been updated to version 1.5 - which introduces a lot of improvements and new features. First, Retina Display and iOS 4 multitasking support: the app now looks great on the iPhone and can sync with the Mac version in the background. Good stuff.

As for the new features, you can now filter your contact list or disable the sync process on the app’s launch. Daylite Touch is available for free here. Check out the full changelog below.

Elements: Dropbox Based Text Editor for iPad and iPhone

Ever since I bought my iPad I’ve wanted to be able to actually work with it. To write articles with it. First came Evernote, but I ditched for Simplenote. I was an avid Simplenote user on the iPhone, and when the iPad version came out I immediately made the switch. Simplenote is a very popular app, and it’s no surprise to see it used by many professionals out there. It’s simple, reliable and fast.

Then there’s Dropbox, the cloud-based storage solution everyone loves and would like to see implemented by default on Mac OS X. Dropbox allows you store and edit files no matter what device you’re on, so what’s stopping developers from creating note-taking applications based on it? That’s exactly what Second Gear are doing with their new iPad and iPhone app, Elements.

Infinifolders: Unlimited Apps in iOS 4 Folders

Available in Cydia at $1.99, Infinifolders is a great tweak by chpwn (developer of Infinidock and Infiniboard) that allows you to bypass Apple’s limitations of 12 apps in a single iOS 4 folder. With Infinifolders you’ll be able to put inside a folder as many apps as you want, choose the color of the scroll bar and even paginate the folder.

It’s a very useful tweak, recommended to jailbreakers.

FaceTime Over 3G Is Now Possible

For jailbreakers, at least. My3G, the tweak that makes iOS believe it’s on Wifi when it’s actually using 3G, has been updated to version 4.1 to include support for FaceTime. Simple as that, you just have to check an option.

My3G is available on Rock ($3.99) or through ModMyi’s repo in Cydia at $2.79. I haven’t tested the app yet, but I’ll keep you posted about my results. It’ll also be interesting to hear from American users whether AT&T’s network will be able to undergo the traffic of jailbreakers or not. Please let us know in the comments below.

This is huge, anyway.

UPDATE: ModMyi’s repo seems to be down at the moment. It should be back online in a hour or so.

UPDATE #2: Check out the video of FaceTime with My3G below, courtesy of 9to5mac.

JailbreakMe: The Good, The Bad and The Pointless

A few hours ago @comex finally released his universal jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad called “JailbreakMe”. Unlike many previous jailbreak tools released in the past three years, this time you don’t need a computer to install Cydia on your device: jailbreakers are using the cloud now, and all you have to do is visit a website in Mobile Safari and wait for the exploit to “land” on your home screen.

Of course Apple isn’t happy about jailbreak. They never were. But this time - this time they have a pretty big issue on their hands. JailbreakMe seems to be based on a PDF vulnerability that is activable in Safari and, potentially, could lead to malicious software sent to users via emails and the browser.

Reeder 2.1 Available with Retina Display Support and New Icon

A Reeder for iPhone update in iTunes is always big news. But when everyone’s favorite client gets Retina Display support and a redesigned icon…well, that is huge news.

That’s right, the latest 2.1 update of Reeder introduces full support for the new iPhone 4 display, a shinier icon, some iOS 4 bug fixes. No new features, but I guess it’s ok for now, right? With that screen, Reeder is perfect.

As usual, you can go download the app for $2.99 here.

Things Touch 1.6 Available: Retina Graphics, Multitasking - Still No OTA Sync

Things, the award winning application by Cultured Code to “get things done”, was updated last night to include support for the Retina Display, iOS 4 multitasking, local notifications and Textexpander Touch. The 1.6 update still doesn’t come with OTA (over the air) sync though.

Anyway, the app now looks great on the iPhone 4 display and allows you to keep in the background and quickly come back to it. As for local notifications, they’re pretty useful as they don’t require a server to work. (just like Omnifocus).

Check out the release notes below. Now, it’s up to Cultured Code to implement a great OTA sync feature in the next update. The project is at full speed now. Things Touch is available at $9.99 in the App Store.
