Send Attachments From Finder via Folder Actions

Send Attachments From Finder via Folder Actions

This hint allows you to drag files to a Finder folder and have them instantly emailed to a pre-configured address, simply by attaching a Folder Action to the folder. It’s a great way to get files off your Desktop and backed up offsite.

Great tip from Mac OS X Hints in 2007 worth a re-link. I use this for Gmail every day, as there’s no better and faster way to get files off your Mac and onto Gmail.

HyperDock Brings Windows 7’s Aero Peek to OS X

Having used Windows 7 for some time in the past months (I’m always curious to see whether Windows is getting better or not), I’m particularly impressed by the usefulness of Aero Peek, a feature that allows you to get a quick preview of a program window by simply hovering over its icon in the taskbar. It’s pretty handy and fast at letting you see what you’re about to open.

Well, HyperDock for Mac (released as beta) does just that: it brings Aero Peek functions to OS X through a completely native application that not only works great (I repeat, it’s a first beta) but it manages to combine a handful of other features with window previews, turning out to be a must-have tool for serious Mac users already. Alarms for Mac: A Perfect Companion For GTD Apps

On my Mac, iPad and iPhone I use OmniFocus to help me getting things done. I manage various projects in it, schedule tasks and dump all the stuff I need to do at some point in the day. However, I’ve recently stumbled upon this neat application called Alarms which, surprisingly enough, has managed to find its way in my workflow.

Alarms is a fast and lightweight reminder app for Mac that lives in your menubar. It’s not a GTD application, yet it’s a perfect companion for softwares like Things or OmniFocus. How so? Read more

Why I Ditched Spotlight for Alfred

Cody reviewed Alfred app for Mac when it first came out in March, but I didn’t really care about the application back then. I was a regular and happy Spotlight user who didn’t need to install a new tool to search my Mac faster. Then something happened over the past months: I started storing lots of files in my Dropbox. Mac Users Love Macs. Surprised?

If you bought a Mac, I guess you love it. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to know that you’re deeply in love with your newly bought piece of Ive aluminum. Still, it’s interesting to put these love stories to numbers and see how stats change over time.

The latest American Customer Satisfaction Index survey (via 9to5mac) indicates that, over the past 12 months, Apple computers totaled 78 out of 100, 3 points more than the same survey in 2009. PC stats have increased as well, with PC makers like Dell and HP achieving higher stats, too: 77 points.

People love Macs. Remember that 10.7 is coming next year. Let’s have this survey again in 12 months. Read more

Desktop Version of Weet Coming for Mac?

Hello, my name is Chris and I’m a twitter client addict. I usually download and try them all. It can be a beta, official release, iPhone, Mac - it doesn’t matter. So today we have a new contestant to the Mac - Weet. It’s handcrafted by Raptor Apps and Marcelo Marfil. The iPhone version was released last week; it’s very good for a 1.0 release, check for an in-depth review soon by Federico. Anyway, a tweet just came across my timeline that showed us a little taste of what could come.

Mailplane 2.2 released

Mailplane, the app that brings Gmail to your Mac’s desktop, has been recently updated with new features and bug fixes. New features: Support for Gmail’s new Priority Inbox; @usemailroom’s TrueView, which enables two counters, one for unread and one for unseen messages; you can now drag a Mailplane URL from the title bar to any application; Rapportive - which replaces the sponsored links on the right-hand side with useful contact information (this is an excellent feature, there’s even free add-ons for Firefox, Safari, and Chrome); Mailplane can now automatically open ‘safe’ attachments after downloading like Safari, just check the preference button; and auto-insert-BCC feature lets you integrate with a CRM, HelpDesk or similar service.
